Dolfin’s in Wasini Island

A tour to Wasini Island via Dhow promises fun and dolphins

Anyone who travels to Kenya is looking for a relaxing vacation trip, wants to explore the amazing landscape with its fascinating animals and plants and wants to get to know the culture. A dhow tour to Wasini Island combines all these things in a one day trip.

A dhow is a traditional African sail boat that is sailing the Indian Ocean since a long time. In such a boat you are accompanied by a capable crew, travelling to Wasini Island.

Wasini Island is a 5km long and 1km wide island without any roads or brick houses. It is very paradisiacal and next to the Kisite Marine Park.

The dhow tour starts in the early morning when you are getting picked up at your hotel and taken to the starting destination. A dhow is already waiting for you and we are ready to start as soon as you are. The Wasini Channel leads us directly to Wasini Island. During the tour, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning view. The dhow reminds of old days in Africa and provides a unique feeling and a lot of fun.

The dhow tour ends at Wasini Island where dolphins are waiting for you

One thing that makes the Wasini dhow tour so special is the Kisite Marine Park next to Wasini Island. Right after arrival, you can go snorkeling and looking for dolphins. They feel home in the Marine Park and can be seen every day. Giant turtles are taking a swim with you as well and you will feel very balanced as soon as you see them.

A glass bottomed boot will reveal insight into the underwater world around Wasini Island and show you the spectacular show pillidolphin1 happening down there.

Afterwards a regional lunch will be prepared for you which consists of fresh fish and other local delicacies. This will give you power for a walk through the traditional fishing village and an inspection of the slave caves on Wasini Island.
On your way back home, you can enjoy nature’s wildlife until you are back in your hotel, where you can talk about the amazing things you have seen.
